On the show today:
- How to make your podcast the right length
Podcasts are a multi-tasking and very personal medium - that is, you can listen to a podcast while you do something else...many places in your life on can listen too. Does knowing how long listening opportunities are?
The average commuting time in the US is 26 minutes. If you make a podcast longer than the average commute time, would be less those listening while commuting. Shorter, can make some feel disappointed.
The overall average length of a podcast is 43 minutes
But that 43 minutes figure includes all podcasts, whether they're popular or not.
How long is a popular one? It turns out that the average length of a top 100 podcast (in October 2018) is 53 minutes. So does it really matter or should it matter for different genres… like video game podcasts are 90 minutes
My NewMediaShow is 90+ minutes long and it has 12,000 plus listeners per episode - podcast about podcasting...
